He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982. Mr. Burnett lived in Palestine all his life and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He served in the Army Medical Corps in Africa in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Annette Brown Burnett of Palestine; daughters, Linda Sue Oswald of LaBelle, Fla., and Sylvia Hubble of Bryan; sister, Lorraine Bolin of Frankston; and three grandchildren.
