Sherman Finley Yocum was the 6th of 11 children born to Charles Baker Yocum and Mary Jane Hayes Yocum. His siblings included:

Death of Sherman Yocum
Sherman F. Yocum, who was born in Stone county, Mo., Jan. 27, 1892, died at his home in Seneca Wednesday, March 23. He was married to Miss Pearl Crowder Sept. 26, 1915. He is survived by his wife and little daughter, Thelma May; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Yocum; three sisters, Mrs. Jerry Welker, Mrs. Hugh Strait and Mrs. Jessie Reynolds, all of Seneca; four brothers, August Yocum and Virgil Yocum of Seneca, Rashie Yocum of Duenweg, Mo., and Otis Yocum of St. Louis. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Assembly of God church in Seneca. The Rev. John Lynn of Shawnee, Okla., officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. Mr. Davis of Seneca. A quartet sang, “Safe in the Arms of Jesus,” and “When They Ring the Golden Bells.” Pallbearers were Frank King, Ed Stegall, Aren Morgan, Paul Jones, Merle Sparlin and Roy Jackson, all member of the M. W. A.., of which he was a member. Honorary pallbearers were from the Royal Neighbors lodge. They were Mrs. Margaret Sproul, district deputy, of Rich Hill, Mrs. Ezra Plummer, Mrs. Theodore King, Mrs. Mabel Head and Miss Viola Crossley. A large crowd attended, the church being filled to capacity. Burial was in the Seneca cemetery, with Buzzard Undertakers in charge.

Note: it might be possible that Sherman's parents only had 10 children as opposed to 11.
