John Edward Davis, of Marble Hill, died September 20, 1993 at his home. He was 85. He was born September 19, 1908 at Alton, MO, son of the late Henry and Nancy Powell Davis. He married Dora Alma Gosnell on March 23, 1928. She survives.
Brother Davis was a member of Point Pleasant General Baptist Church.
He was member of I.O.O.F. Lodge of Madison, IL.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Darrell E. Davis of Granite City, IL and Ronald D. Davis of West Frankfort, IL; four daughters, Louise Hughes of Marble Hill, MO; Thelma Pryor of Granite City, IL; June E. Legate of Edwardsville, IL; and Jolene Hessling of Collinsville, IL; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
His parents; an infant son, Robert; five brothers; five sisters; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Thursday at Liley Funeral Home, with burial at McGee Chapel Cemetery near Glen Allen, MO.
