I will always remember your Carroll. We grew up and went to the same school together. We were drafted into the Army and went through training and to Vietnam together. You were a great spiritual leader for me, James and Steve. You are truly missed by everyone who knew you.

I served with him. It was 37 years ago today April 4, 1968 we stood together and took the one step foward to serve the USA as draftees into the Army. We had good times together and you always helped all of us through tough times. I miss you my friend! We grew up together, went to the same schools, and were drafted together. Our service numbers were one number different. We went through Basic, Infantry Training, and went to Vietnam together. We served with the 25th but in different areas. He was a good friend and when you were down he could always give words on encouragement. I go to his grave sometimes to visit. I miss him. He always gave everything in all he did. I remember getting the word of his death 2 months after it happened. I sat down and cried as I had lost a friend. I believe he is in heaven today helping to watch over me. Ralph (BUCK) Buchanan, 5136 Powerhouse Rd. Morganton, NC 28655-7298.

He was the husband of Mrs Linda M Bailey, Route #3, Box 22, Morganton, NC.

He served with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, "Wolfhounds", 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning".

He was Awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Bronze Star Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, the Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal and The National Defense Service Medal.
