SP4 Bobbie Maxsen Auton, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Taylorsville, NC.
As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SP4 Auton served our country until May 23rd, 1967 in Hua Nghia, South Vietnam. He was 25 years old and was not married. It was reported Bobbie died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine. His body was recovered. SP4 Auton is on panel 20E, line 088 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.
Bobbie: God rest your soul. You were a great soldier and always did your duty. I am sure that the lord has prepared a special place for you. My family and I will be eternally grateful for your sacrifice. I was the RTO from the 2nd platoon. I was out on the sweep with Bobbie that fateful day. He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
