Bernard E. "Gene" Bivins, age 77, of Milford, IN, formerly of Portage, IN, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at home. He was born September 25, 1930 in Sturgis, KY to Robert and Minnie (Hammond) Bivins. Gene served in the U.S. Navy and was a union representative with Ford Motor Company in Chicago for 40 years, retiring in 1992. On November 30, 1950 in Henderson, KY Gene married Joyce Latham, who survives; along with two daughters: Kathy (Billy) Spargo of Hebron and Vickie (Alan) Lerch of Milford; one brother, Jess Bivins of St. Louis, MO; two sisters: Ruby Simpson of Hopkinsville, KY and Louvada Davis of CA; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; one sister; and one grandson. Rev. Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial at Hebron Cemetery.
