Duane Coats, age 86, of Giltner, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 4th at the United Methodist Church in Giltner. Pastor Mahlon Richardson will officiate. Interment will be in the Giltner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 -7 P.M. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Giltner. The family requests casual dress for the services. Memorials may be made in care of the family to be determined at a later date. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Duane D. Coats, the son of George A. and Laura A. (Smith) Coats was born on the family farm in Hamilton County, Nebraska on March 14, 1930 and passed away in Giltner, Nebraska on October 31, 2016 at the age of 86.
He lived in rural Stockham and 2 ¼ miles south of Giltner. Duane graduated from Giltner High School in 1948. Duane lived the rest of his life in Giltner.
Duane was a member of the Giltner United Methodist Church, Giltner Volunteer Fire Department and Lions Club. Duane was also a member of the Hamilton County Livestock Feeders and had been named Producer of the Year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Wade Coats; grandson, Seth Coats and three brothers and a sister.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jackie Coats of Giltner; four children, Terry (Glenda) Coats of Giltner, Deb (Lin) Hoskins of Hastings, Rhonda (Larry) Coats of San Angelo, Texas and Allan (Gayla) Coats of Giltner; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
