HERBERT E. KNIGHT DEAD
Herbert E. Knight, 80 year-old native of Exeter died at his home on the Fisherville Road in that town last Thursday. Funeral services were held Sunday from the Cranston Funeral Home in Wickford and were conducted by Rev. Frederick Taft of Wakefield. Burial was at Elm Grove Cemetery and the bearers were Chester and Lloyd Knight, Elmer Miller, Richard Tibbetts, Chester Gordon and Ray Kenyon. Mr. Knight had been active in town affairs in years past having been Overseer of the Poor for 20 years and had served as Town Sergeant five years. He was a trustee of the Dawley School. He was a member of the old Exeter Lodge of Odd Fellows now combined with Beacon Lodge of Wickford and was a charter member of Liberty Baptist Church. Surviving him are his wife, Mary E. (Matteson) Knight, one sister, Annie O. Knight of Lafayette, four children, Mrs. Ray Kenyon of Peace Dale, Flora and Lurena Knight of Exeter; Joseph L. Knight of North Kingstown; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
