On 23 Dec 1879 in Cooke County, Texas, USA, he married Isabella English "Belle" BURNETT, daughter of Joshua and Susan CRENSHAW Burnett.

Pioneer Citizen Passes Away
Mr. Holland M. Ayres, a highly respected and pioneer citizen, passed away at his home at Teller last Friday and was laid to rest Saturday in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives.
Mr. Ayres was sixty-five years of age at his death, and had lived near Tishomingo for over twenty-five years. He was well and favorably known to all the old timers of this section and was a worthy citizen - one who will be missed by all.
He leaves a large family and a host of friends to mourn his death.
