John Arthur Ammerman Sr. (spelled

William Amerman
(spelled with two "m's")
and his wife Eliza Ann Schenck
of Somerville,
Somerset County New Jersey,
Wayne County Ohio, and later,
of St. Joseph County, Indiana
(near South Bend and Hamilton).

John's Grandfather, Abram Amerman,
was a native of Germany.

John was born in Somerset County
New Jersey (possibly in the town of
Somerville, where his sister was born
in 1834, per her obituary).

John's family later lived near South
Bend and Hamilton, in St. Joseph
County Indiana
(East and N.E. of New Carlisle, Indiana).

John's mother Eliza Ann Amerman
(spelled with two "m's") and his
brother Abraham W. Ammerman
(spelled with three "m's"), are buried
in the Hamilton Church Cemetery, in
Hamilton, St. Joseph Co. Indiana.

John was married on Jan. 1, 1862
in St. Joseph County Indiana,
to Hannah Mariah Patrick, the
daughter of Robert Patrick and
his wife Catherine Ann Keyser
(per marriage records in
St. Joseph County Indiana).

John and Hannah had ten children.
They are listed on the memorial
for his wife,
Hannah M. Ammerman (with three "m's").

born 1837 in Somerset Co. N.J., son
of William and Eliza Shanck [Schenck]
Amerman, born in N.J. in 1802 and 1806.
They [Wm. and Eliza] were married in
1823, moved in 1838 to Wayne Co. Ohio,
then in 1849 to St. Joseph Co. Ind.
Here William died in 1864, and Eliza
Ann in 1875. William was a Baptist
and Eliza Ann a Presbyterian.
He [William] was a lifelong farmer.
John's grandfather, Abram Amerman,
was a native of Germany.
John A. had a common school education.
He married Jan. 1, 1862,
Hannah N. [M.] Patrick, daughter of
Robert and Catherine Ann Patrick, in
Ohio where Hannah was born.
They were the parents of ten children:
Ida (Mrs. William Lintner), William,
Ella, Clarence (deceased), Clara A.,
Abraham, Lucy, Lawrence, and John [Jr.].
The father, John A. went to Berrien Co.
Mich. about 1866, and came to Sullivan
Co. Mo. 1869.
He located 8 miles south of Green City
[Missouri] and acquired 160 acres of land.
He was a Republican and cast his first
vote for Lincoln.
He and his wife were Methodists.

County Michigan about 1866, and then
to Sullivan County Missouri in 1869.
He located 8 miles South of Green City,
Missouri and accquired 160 acres of
land.
John and Hannah were living in
Union Township, Sullivan County
Missouri, at the time of the 1870
census.
(John was living in Missouri at the
time of the death of his sister
Mary Catherine (Ammerman) Kizer,
in Mishawaka, Indiana
in 1913, per her obituary).

Abraham W. Ammerman
(who is buried in St. Joseph Co. IN),
and a younger
sister named Ellen Ann Ammerman
(buried here in the Plesantville Cemetery).

John died Feb. 15, 1916
(per: John's death certificate and
per the Pleasantville Cemetery records).

John died at the age of 79 years,
1 month and 12 days, from cancer
of the bowel, in Green City, (Union
Township), Sullivan County Missouri.
His son William Ammerman of Green
City, Missouri, was the "informant"
listed on John's death certificate.

(formerly known as
the "Dantown Cemetery"), located
one mile West of Mystic,
in Sullivan County, Missouri.
