Abelino Chávez, age, 91 passed away, peacefully at home in Rio Rancho, NM on October 17, 2016.
Abelino was born on August 14, 1925 to Alejandro and Solema Chávez.
Abelino is survived by a sister, Irene Moya and a brother, Johnny Chávez.
Abelino led a full life and is survived by his wife, Margaret Chávez recently celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary. Together they had four children, Gertrude Martínez, Rosalie Chávez, Debbie Chávez and Danny Chávez, six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Abelino worked 25 years for the City of Springerville, AZ and later worked as a custodian at Round Valley High School. Years after retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Chávez moved to New Mexico to be closer to family where he spent quality time celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, 1st communions, matanzas’s and graduations. Mr. and Mrs. Chávez loved traveling and enjoying all the wonderful food New Mexico has to offer.
For those who knew and loved Abelino, they will always remember that this man was a reflection of the Love and Humility of the LORD. Abelino was a true servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. Abelino loved the LORD above all things and loved his neighbor. Abelino was a parishner of St. Peters Catholic Church in Springerville, AZ and attended Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church in Albuquerque for five years before moving to Rio Rancho where he attended mass every Sunday at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Abelino was a hardworking man who among other things built a home for his family from the ground up. Abelino was always ready, willing and able to help his neighbor with whatever they needed. Abelino was a quiet, gentle man with a great sense of humor and admirable work ethic. Abelino never complained or talked badly about anyone. Even during his last years, he accepted his suffering without complaint as the WILL OF THE LORD. With words that defined his faith and his life, he would say what we will always remember, “Nomas Dios Sabe”…It’s true. Only GOD knows what our mission in life is and when it has been accomplished. We find consolation in the fact that our LORD JESUS CHRIST has received Abelino saying to him, “Well done my Good and Faithful Servant”. Abelino will be greatly missed, living forever in our hearts.
