Johann Peter Adams, son of Johann Adams and Maria Catharina Diedrich, married widow, Anna Gertrude Schaefer nee Gilles, daughter of Johann Gilles and Anna Maria Schneider, on 30 May 1786 at St Kastor Catholic Church in Weiler. Johann Peter and Anna Gertrude were the parents of four children known, in birth order, Heinricus, Johann Castor, Mathias and Nicholas. Their son Nicholas, with his wife Susanna and their five children, and Susanna's brother Nicolaus Gaeb, emigrated to America and arrived at Port of New York on 21 August 1841. Nicholas Adams was one of three founders' of Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois, and helped to establish the parish and church, St John the Baptist Catholic Church. They traveled from New York to Chicago by rail and from Chicago to Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois, by oxen-drawn wagon, along with Jacob Schmitt and his family, and Nicholas Frett and his family. It is said that "their original destination was Johnsburg, (Mower County) Minnesota", along with the Jacob Schmitt and Nicolas Frett families ~
