Maxine was born in Slippery Rock on March 28, 1927, to Roy Watson and Nina Nemo Kelly.
She married William H. Bowers on Oct. 9, 1947; he preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1997.
She was a homemaker and retired from Grove City College, where she managed the GeDunk for over 30 years.
Maxine was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church.
She was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School.
Formerly she volunteered at Grove City Medical Center.
Maxine enjoyed her family, quilting and shopping.
She is survived by three children, Devota Dunn and her husband Terry, Grove City; Bonnie Shafer and her husband Raymond, West Middlesex; and Gordon Bowers and his wife Sharon, Clintonville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Walker, Horseshoe, N.C.; and one brother, Earl Kelly and his wife Betty, Grove City.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Angela Bowers and Todd Dunn; four sisters, Elaine George, Phyllis Couch, Lois Kelly and Linda Kelly; and one brother, Gene Kelly.
