SALEM - Roy was born in Silverton, Oregon, the youngest of five siblings to parents Amos and Elma Amstutz. Roy retired from the Oregon State Correctional Institute as a Corporal after almost 30 years of service. He loved camping, traveling and fishing with his family. He especially enjoyed trips he made from Hawaii to San Diego aboard the U.S.S. Tarawa and the U.S.S. Tripoli, of which his oldest son, Rex, was stationed. Roy had a big heart and was full of laughs. You knew you would get to hear new jokes and funny stories whenever you saw him. He lived his life to the fullest and always had a kind word for everyone around him.
