Geraldine McDaniel
February 2, 1924 - October 12, 2016

Geraldine McDaniel passed away on October 12, 2016 at the Carolina Rest Home. She was 92 years old and had a very happy life. She moved to Lake Gaston nine years ago to live with her daughter, Marilyn Dunnill, and her husband Bill.

Ms. McDaniel was born in Logan County, Kentucky where her family were tobacco farmers. Her father, Joseph Talmadge Holder died at the early age of 38. Her mother, Christina Smith Holder, packed up her four teenage daughters and moved to Tullahoma, Tennessee to be near relatives. Ms. McDaniel had three sisters, Louise Weaver and Birdie Mae Banks preceded her in death and she is survived by Jeanette Gunn who lives in Tullahoma.

Geraldine “Gerry” McDaniel was married to N. A. “Mac” McDaniel 49 years before he passed. They were members of the Senior Citizen Bowling League. She averaged 136 bowling legally blind in her later years. She was involved in several community activities and president of most of them at one time or the other. Ms. McDaniel was president of the Winchester Home Demonstration Club, East Lincoln School PTA, Woodmen of the World Ladies Group, a member of the Franklin County Historical Society and the Senior Bowling League. She won awards for her beautiful hand-stitched quilts.

Ms. McDaniel was a member of the Emmanuel Church of Christ. She was an avid genealogist and had researched her family history during the good ole days, before computers. She had traveled over most southern states researching and gathering information of her ancestors and had 30 notebook binders full of her hard work.

During her working years she was an office manager for the Appalachian Tanning Company and a sales representative for Avon products winning numerous awards for her outstanding salesmanship.

Ms. McDaniel is survived by three children, Mickey McDaniel of Katy , Texas, Marilyn Dunnill, Littleton, North Carolina and Mark McDaniel of Winchester, Tennessee. She also has eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 16th at Blaylock Funeral Home in Littleton. Then Ms. McDaniel will be taken to the Tullahoma Funeral Home for burial in the Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma, TN.

On October 20, 2016 there will be a public visitation at Tullahoma Funeral Home beginning at 9:30AM until 10:30AM. A Graveside Service will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma, TN beginning at 11:00AM.
