Jo Anna Sampson Crowder, 72, Brownington, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton. She was born in Henry County on July 6, 1928, the daughter of Charles Eugene Sampson and Mamie Dodson Sampson. She married Billy Crowder on November 23, 1949, in Harrison, Arkansas. She worked briefly for the United States Postal Service, but her real job was being a mother to her six children. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Billy Crowder; her parents, Eugene and Mamie Sampson; sisters, Geneva Cline, Louise Elliott and Katheryn Kloiber; brothers, Billy, Bobby, Waymon, Edwin and Charles Sampson. She leaves behind one sister, Joyce Westhoff; three daughters, Pam Reynolds and Don Crump, Debbie Burrow and husband, David, Karen Lasswell and husband, Andy; three sons, Larry and wife Sharon, Danny and wife Karen, Ronnie and wife Gloria; grandchildren, Sarah Crowder, Chris Lasswell, Anna Lasswell, Aspen Burrow, Jon Crowder, Luke Crowder, Devin Burrow, Sasha Crowder and Whitney Crowder; other relatives and many, many friends. Her love and devotion to her family was reflected in everything she did. She was so unselfish in every way, always a giver, not a taker. In the last several years as their health declined, she and Billy did so much for each other. He could be found doing the dishes and she always made sure they took her medication on time. Even though she was so ill the last several weeks, she never lost her sense of humor or failed to tell her family how much she loved them. Services were held on Thursday, June 28, at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. Interment was at Maplewood cemetery in Brownington. Pall bearers were nephews, Jeff Brown, Allen Sanders, Kevin Sanders, Curtis Sanders, Richard Eager and Roger Miller.
