Edna Inez (she was sometimes called by her middle name) was the daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Freeman) Bradshaw and was born on the family farm located near the town of Volga City, Sperry Township, Clayton County, Iowa on November 15, 1867. She had eleven brothers and sisters. The U S Census of 1880 reports that she was living on the family farm near Volga and was fourteen years of age. Also at home beside her mother Caroline were her brother and sisters Lorena (14), Flora (9) and Justus (6). It was also recorded that Edna and Flora had attended school that year. On December 4, 1884 she married Daniel Bailey in Lawson, Missouri. Little is known about Daniel and his family. He was born July 17, 1863 near Knoxville, Missouri. They had three children: Amanda Caroline (born October 26, 1885 in Missouri), Hattie Annette (born February 14, 1892 in Iowa) and Florence Emily (born March 18, 1888; died October 22, 1888 at seven months at Lyle, Decatur County, Kansas). Edna and Joseph lived at Volga, Iowa and near Wilsonville, Nebraska. They also lived at Cedar Bluffs, Kansas and in 1838 they were living in Aurora, Nebraska. Edna passed away in 1945 and it has not been confirmed, but it is assumed she was interred in the Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, Hamilton County, Nebraska. Daniel most likely was also buried there.
