Roy Edward Mackey, 90, of Hibbing, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Heritage Manor. He was born October 11, 1925 in Cedar Valley, MN to John and Aina (Itanen) Mackey.

He grew up in Silica and attended Hibbing High School. He was a WWII veteran.

Roy was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the V.F.W. and he was a Union '49er with Mesaba Construction.

Roy loved camping, fishing, hunting, dogs and feeding birds and squirrels. He loved dancing and Finnish polka accordion music. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lynette; second wife, Opal; brothers, John and Ray Mackey; and sisters, Anna Wenstrom and Ingrid Hocking.

He is survived by his sons: Dennis (Jodi), Kenneth (Lynn) Mackey, Leroy (Anne) Mackey, Steven (Jacquelyn) Bolden, Carl Bolden, Jr., and Jerry (Rosemarie) Bolden; daughters: Jean (Dixon) Kirsch, Jo (Gary) Johnson, Ellen (Howard) Barker. Neva Bolden; grandchildren: Kelly (Robin) Kirsch, Nicole Kirsch, Michele Kirsch, Hannah (Trevor) Brook, Malachi Mackey, Aaron (Caryn) Mackey, Rebecca (John) White; three great grandchildren, and one due in December; sister: Ina Johnson; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in law; numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in Finland
