Theresa Dougherty, 90, of Thief River Falls, MN died peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Valley Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
 
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding.  Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Thief River Falls.   Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Saturday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
 
Theresa Amiot was born on October 13, 1925 in Gentilly, MN the daughter of Armand and Liza (Corbin) Amiot.  She was baptized at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gentilly.  She only attended school through the 8th grade, she quit school to go to work.
 
On December 12, 1945, Theresa was united in marriage to Ray Clifford Dougherty at Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage in Thief River Falls, MN.   They made their home on a farm near Grygla, MN and to this union six children were born, Richard, Gerald, Marie, Alan, Ann and Lu.
 
Theresa was a nanny for the Rasmussen’s, she was a homemaker for many years, was a waitress at various cafes, worked at the turkey plant, did childcare, housecleaning and ironing for people.  Theresa enjoyed baking, baking and more baking, traveling with whoever would go, volunteering, gardening, canning, spending time with family and was the best grandma anyone could want.
 
She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Eagles Auxiliary, Heritage Center, VFW Auxiliary and National Catholic Society of Foresters.
 
Survivors include children, Richard (Paulette), Marie Sandsmark, Alan, Ann (Nick) Juhl, and Lu (Steve) Olson; 13 grandchildren, Rhonda (Mark) Daigneault, Kevin (Bess) Brambrink, Shawn Wells, Michelle (Lynn) Baker, Eric Dougherty, Robyn (Dale) Westerlund, Bryan (Kristine) Dougherty, Travis (Kallie) Dougherty, Jessica (Roger) Passa, Heather (Mark) Emberland, Cliff Juhl, Matt (Kelsy) Olson, Dylan (Amber) Juhl; 25 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Noah, Breann, Kaelan, Teagan, Amber, Kelly, Jamie, Payton, Taylor, Landen, Trentyn, Alexandra, Lucas, Devon, Kaylee, Grace, Aubrey, Astaire, Blake, Calub, Kyler, Shelby, and Layne; sister, Ursula Dahl; sisters-in-law: Betty Amiot, Vi Amiot & Tessie Amiot; and many other relatives and friends.
 
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray in 1964; parents; son, Gerald in 2007; brothers: Lloyd, Gilbert, Dewey, Harry, Marvin, Clarence (who died 36 hours before Theresa), Leodore, Armand, Roland and Eli in infancy; sisters: Rosalie (Duane) Hanson, Elaine (Ray) Kjonaas and Vicki (Jerry) Hermes; and brother-in-law, Orville Dahl.
