CLARENCE W. MADDRIX DIED ON TUESDAY
Mr. Clarence W. Maddrix, one of the community's well known and highly respected citizens, died in the McCready Hospital here Tuesday afternoon, following a prolonged illness, at the age of 65. He had entered the hospital the day previous for treatment.
He was a native of Crisfield, the son of the late Frank and Amanda Tawes Maddrix.
Mr. Maddrix was an experienced and capable sail maker and had worked at his trade in several parts of the country. He also had been employed in tent making establishments, where his skill was of high value to the operators.
He was a man with a warm heart, courteous, very helpful to his fellow men when the occasion offered, and he had many warm friends who valued his friendship because of the fine qualities he possessed.
For some years he had been a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held yesterday, Thursday, afternoon at 3.30 o'clock in the Bradshaw Funeral Parlors, conducted by Rev. A. T. McFarland, pastor of Mt. Pleasant Church. Interment was in the Crisfield cemetery.
Mr. Maddrix is survived by a son, Harry Maddrix, who is a member of an Air Group of the U.S. Coast Guard, now in Hawaii; a sister, Mrs. Lyda Crockett of this city; three brothers, Lake Maddrix and Sheriff Maddrix of Crisfield, and Elijah Maddrix of Baltimore.
