John Robert Hughey was the son of Allen Hughey and Sarah M Waggoner. He was born in Pittsylvania County, VA. He moved with his parents to Crittenden County, KY where he married and raised his family. In the the fall of 1868 he sold his farm in Crittenden County and moved to Jefferson County, ILto be closer to some of his children who had moved there. He later moved to the newly founded town of Belle Rive, IL. He died at his home in Belle Rive.
