Actor. Born Thomas Larkin Malloy, he was well known for his roles on several popular soap operas from the 1980s to the 21st Century. He started working as a professional actor in 1974 on the New York stage where he was a founding member of the off-Broadway company ATA. After playing starring roles at the Arena Stage in Washington, the Goodman Theater in Chicago, he did a season of classics at the famed Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. He later moved to New York and got his start in soap operas on "The Edge of Night" in 1980, playing Jefferson Brown and later Schuyler Whitney. While playing the latter role, he was in a car accident, and his injuries kept him away from the set for a time, though he later returned and remained with "The Edge of Night" until 1984. From 1984 to 1987, he played Kyle Sampson on "Guiding Light". He then moved on to "All My Children", where he played Travis Montgomery off and on from 1987 through 2001. The character was written off the show in 2000, dying of a stroke, but returned the following year as an angel. His other credits include the soap opera "Loving" and the movie "Big Daddy," and he served as the announcer for the soap opera "As the World Turns". He also worked as an acting coach. He passed away of complications from a heart attack he suffered on his birthday several days before.
