Stone Gap, VA – Donald Ray Dalton, 74, loving husband, father, son and brother, was born on February 7, 1942. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday (September 28, 2016) peacefully at his home after a hard fought battle with cancer.

He was a veteran who served his country as a Military Police of the Army in Germany. He served his community as a police officer in his hometown of Big Stone Gap. He served the Coal Industry as a Safety Coordinator of the UMWA. He was also a member and served on the board of Christian Life Church. Donald loved spending time with his whole family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 wonderful years, Phyllis Lynn Dalton; his parents, Edward and Nell Dalton; his sister, Pamela Dalton Pleasant and his brothers, James Dalton and Paul Dalton.

Donald is survived by his sons, Barry Dalton, of Big Stone Gap, VA, Richard “Todd” Dalton and wife Sharon, of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Christopher Dalton and wife Maggie, of Big Stone Gap, VA; his sisters, Mary Helen Beverly of Kingston, TN and Brenda Chambers of Gray, TN; his grandchildren, Kasey Dalton, Nicholas Dalton, Jared Dalton, Keely Dalton, and Jacob Zeruth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; a special nephew Larry Baker and his canine companion, Teddy.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Glencoe Cemetery Mausoleum.
