Ella Marie Conger was born Sunday, March 1, 1885 to Eri & Ellora Josephine (Williams-Slemmons) Conger. She was born in a small unincorporated town outside of Wilmington, Ohio in the town of Bloomington & raised in St Mary's, Auglaize County, Ohio. She was more than likely raised as a Quaker. Ella was a cigar maker & worked for WB Wessel Cigar Factory on Spring Street in St Mary's from about 1909 to 1915.

Ella married Nelson J Logan on Monday, November 9, 1903 in St Mary's Village, Auglaize County, Ohio. Ella & Nelson divorced in 1914.

Ella married Harry Andrew Flora on Monday, September 11, 1916 in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. They lived in Yorktown, Delaware County, Indiana until 1918; returning to Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana for the remainder of their lives. She & Harry purchased a home at 716 South 1st Street until 1925 moving to 2147 South 1st Street. In 1929 they lived at 1230 Harding Ave, Terre Haute, Indiana, 1932 lived at 131 Park Street until 1944; moving to their final residence together at 1123 Harding Ave., Terre Haute, Vigo, Indiana. Ella developed Dementia & lived with her daughter Annamae her final years of life.

Ella volunteered almost 20 years working with trouble girls at a local shelter in Terre Haute. Neither her nor Harry could drive; Harry rode a bicycle with Ella on the handle bars. She is remembered by her outspoken & loving ways. Ella love was family & her children. She missed her family in Ohio & visited every year; and visiting the graves of her sons. She mourned her son Daniel the remainder of her life & never celebrated Christmas again after his death.

Terre Haute Tribune - Mrs Ella Marie Flora, 86, 3333 N 23rd Street died at Union Hospital at 8 am Saturday. Survivors are four daughters; Mrs Lavere Church, Mrs Annamae Merritt, Mrs Mary Day, all of Terre Haute, and Mrs Virginia Murphy of Marshall, ILL, four sons, Charles Logan of Terre Haute, Harry Flora of Burlington, ILL and Owen and Clyde Flora of Terre Haute, 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday at the DeBaun Funeral Home; Rev B L Howse will officiate. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 pm Sunday.
