William "Shorty" Strayhorn, age 84, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Cumming. Shorty is preceded in death by his daughter, Annie L. Bragg; parents, Tate and Gennie Strayhorn; brothers, Herman, Tom, Eugene, Myron and his twin, Woodrow; sisters, Leila Shumate, Lucille Wehunt, and Hazel Melton.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, William and Susan Strayhorn of Cumming; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Larry Mooney of Gainesville; sister, Willy Mae Charles of Cumming; grandchildren, Darryl Strayhorn, Greg Strayhorn, Tony Kirby, Jason Kirby, Vickie Hamby; six great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with the Rev. Barney Johns, Darryl Strayhorn and Jeff Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
