Verno O. Barker of Route 3, Greenville died Saturday at 11:30 at his residence.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Salem-Kinser United Methodist Church with the Rev. Guy Wilson and the Rev. Milton Guttierrez officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 26, 1897 in the Salem community to Rufus F. and Jane Barker. He was married to Leta Kincer in 1921 in Greenville. Mr. Barker was a retired farmer and cotton buyer and a member of Salem-Kinser United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of Greenville; sons, Bobby Barker of Ardmore, Okla. and Mabry Barker of Irving; brother, Bill Barker of Greenville; sister, Mrs. Claude Lancaster of Greenville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Donald Bennett, Herman Bennett, Jr., Tate Morrison, Bobby Moore, Jack Hunt and Clifford Atkisson. Honorary pallbearers will be stewards of Salem-Kinser United Methodist Church.
