Landmark Gone

Mr. J. L. Chapman, known to everybody as "Daddy" Chapman, died at his home in Nobob, Friday night, at the age of eighty-eight years. He is survived by nine children, Mrs. John Basil, of Rock Bridge; Mrs. George Graham, Bowling Green, Messrs. D. A., J. A. And Loss Chapman, of Nobob; Sandford Chapman, near Smith's Grove; Isaac Chapman, of Knoxville, Tenn.; James Chapman, of West Point, Ky., and Mrs. John Isenberg, of Cave City. He left about a hundred grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian church and a prominent Republican of his section. Both he and his son, D. A. Chapman, were soldiers in the war of 61' and were pensioners. He was indeed a landmark in his section, having resided there since the war. The word Nobob has hardly been complete without including with it a thought of "Daddy" Chapman. He was an honorable citizen and will be greatly missed by a wide circle of friends. Funeral services were held at the Holtsclaw burying ground Tuesday by Elder J. W. Reese.
