Mother of Raymond N. Perkins, Jr. (d 2016), Elaine, Lorene, Sheldon
Siblings include: Elmer, Joseph Cyril, Scholastique (m Touchette), Alred D., Darella, Nettie, Ernest, Stanley, Annie, and Leola
Helen was born in Tupper Lake, N.Y., to Archie and Rose (Rule) Bernier in the fall of 1912, the year the Titanic sailed and sank and the year that Fenway Park opened. She moved to Canterbury as a child from New York, and eventually settled in Boscawen where she lived her entire life. During her years, Helen married and raised a family in Boscawen. She worked for many years as a nurse aide for Harris Hill Nursing Home when it was located in Boscawen, and then during World War II she worked at the Harris Emery Woolen Mill. Later, she was a waitress at Dunkin' Donuts and a server/cook for the hot lunch program in the Merrimack Valley School District.
Helen, (Grammy Perkins) was loved and will be missed by all. She was known in her neighborhood for creating a snack affectionately known as "Grandmas Junk." She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great practical joker. Helen loved to play cards and enjoyed the many wonderful trips she took to Foxwoods and Las Vegas with her children and grandchildren. Helen was always a good neighbor and friend to many over the years, never being afraid to share what she had or lend a hand when she could. Helen has also been the holder of the Boscawen Post Cane since 2011.
