Mr. Schuessler was formerly a gardener, and owned the tract of ground at Monroe and Glen avenue. He was one of the best known residents of this city.
Deceased was born in St. Louis, February 24, 1846, and was twice married. His first wife, who was Miss Catherine Haege, died nine months after their marriage. His second wife was Miss Margaret Anna Lippert, whom he married 44 years ago.
He leaves his widow and these children:
Anna, wife of Emil Genez, East St. Louis
John A. Schuessler, Mascoutah
Katherine, wife of Henry Mohr, Belleville
George A. Schuessler, East St. Louis
Miss Lena Schuessler, Denver, Colo.
He also leaves two sisters:
Mrs. August Obert, Belleville
Mrs Mike Frees, Belleville
... and four grandchildren.
He was a member of Hecker Post G. A. R., which will have charge of the funeral, which takes place Wednesday at 3 o'clock to Walnut Hill Cemetery.
