James Theodore “Ted” Love, 87, of 334 Loves Farm Road, Blacksburg, S.C. passed away Monday, September 12, 2016, at Greenville Health System.

Born in Blacksburg, he was the husband of Juanita Blanton Love and the son of the late Robert Jackson Love and Sallie Pearl Harmon Love.

He worked with the public for many years as a policeman for the Town of Blacksburg and as a Cherokee County Magistrate. He was also a farmer and landlord. Ted was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita; two sons, Greg Love and wife, Lorri, of Blacksburg and Todd Love and wife, Kerrie, of Chantilly, Va.; one daughter, Dr. Sandra Love Lane and husband, Dr. Stephen Lane, of Greenville, S.C.; one brother, Olin Love and wife, Mary, of Blacksburg; three sisters, Sarah Purser of Charlotte, N.C. Margaret Carpenter of York, and Lib Redmond, of Spartanburg, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Chasidy Weaver, Christopher Adam Love, Michael Lane, Blake Lane, Dylan Lane, Cassie Turberville, Jordan Love, and Travis Whitfield; and four great-grandchildren, Logan, Legend, Michael Dee, and Cannon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lewis, Edward, David, and Odell Love, and four sisters, Gertrude Compton, Ethel Mobley, Becky Helms, and Estell Beam.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 1 - 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 839 Antioch Road Blacksburg, SC 29702. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Beam and Rev. Vernon Craig officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Scott Love, Mitchell Love, Ricky Love, Marion Love, Danny Love, and Darriel Love will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Janie Chapman Mission Fund, c/o Antioch Baptist Church, 839 Antioch Road, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.

The family will be at the residence.
