Carroll Daily Times Herald - Wednesday, August 4, 1976 - GLIDDEN - Mrs Walter Thede, 71 of Glidden, died at the Carroll Manor nursing home at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 after a long illness.
She was a lifelong Glidden resident. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church here, with the Rev Paul Bussert officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. There will be a prayer service for the family and friends at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Dahn Woodhouse Funeral Home, Glidden. The casket will be moved to the church at ll:30 p.m. Thursday for viewing until the hour of services.
Mrs Thede was the former Opal Etta Dickson, daughter of Robert and Hannah Eilts Dickson. She was born in Carroll County March 24, 1905. Her marriage to Mr Thede took place at Jefferson Feb 18, 1925. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and ladies Aid and of the Glidden Women's Club.
Surviving with her husband are three daughters. Mrs Wilfred (Lucille) Haubrich of Glidden. Mrs Leonard (Darlene) Halbur of Carroll and Mrs George (Coleen) Helm of Glidden; two sons, Harold of Glidden and Darwin of Grimes; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and a brother, Ernest Dickson of Redfield.
Mrs Thede was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a brother, and a sister.
