Clarence was the son of Robert Dickson and Hannah Eilts. He married Marien Steigerwalt on June 16, 1926 in Carroll Co, IA. They were the parents of Ferne, Betty, Ruth, Robert, Roberta, and Ronald.

The Rev. Martin J. Ludwig officiated at the rites. The hymns "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me" were sung by a quartet composed of Paul Loeschen, James Piatt, Wanda Hunt and Althea Best. Organist was John Loeschen. Pallbearers were Leo Loeffler, Russell White, Russel Draves, Curtis Stokes, Shiri Douglas and Ed Cautzky. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by Merle Hay Post No. 386, American Legion. The Dahn-Woodhouse Funeral Home, Glidden, was in charge of arrangements.
