"Committal services were held Monday at the Cobleskill Rural cemetery for Mrs. Ada Dana Shutts, 88, widow of John Shutts, former residents of Lawyersville. Mrs. Shutts was the youngest of the five children of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Dana and, with her husband owned and operated for many years the farm at Lawyersville now owned by Floyd Holmes. Later they purchased a farm at Waverly, N. Y., where they resided until Mr. Shutts retired about 10 years ago when they went to California. Mr. Shutts died there in 1943 and Mrs. Shutts returned to Waverly and made her home with her only son and his family where she died. Surviving are her son, Howard Shutts, two granddaughters, Misses Emma and Ada Shutts and a niece, Mrs. Clara Wheelock of Fredonia." [The Cobleskill Index (Cobleskill, NY), July 19, 1945, Page 8]
