"This is to certify that Jonas Rudisill was a Revolutionary solider and served in Captain Simon Copenhafer's Company First Battalion, York county, Pennsylvania Associators, organized 1775 by Colonel James Smith who in 1776 was chosen a delegate to Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence. In the summer of 1776 the First Battalion formed a part of the First Regiment of the 'Flying Camp", which regiment was commanded by Colonel Richard Swope of York, and was composed entirely of York county troops. Swope's Regiment took part in the "Battle of Fort Washington" and other engagements around New York City. When General Washington retreated across New Jersey, Colonel Swope with the rest of the "Flying Camp" took part in the battles of Princeton and Treaton and remained in service 2 months longer than the term of their enlistment. The printed muster of the Company in which Jonas Rudisill served is found on page 263 of Powell's History of York county, Pennsylvania.The muster roll containing the names of Jonas Rudisill and his battalion is now in the archives of "The Historical Society of York, Pennsylvania".
