In 1866 he was united in marriage to Louise Keller, moving later to Chase Township, Lake County where he made his home until the time of his death. Five children were born, two of them who died in infancy. He leaves two son's Joseph of Reed City and Meno of Muskegon and one daughter Mrs. George Ringler and other relatives to mourn his death. His wife preceded him in death eight years ago.
The funeral was held at the Evangelical Church.
