Edith Franke Doyle 89, a lifelong resident of Traverse City died Friday at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church. For 65 years, she also belonged to the Gunton Woman's Club. Born Feb. 5, 1900 in Traverse City, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Flora (West) Barnes. On Dec. 24,1917 in Traverse City she married Alfred L. Franke who died in 1953. On Nov. 2, 1970 in Traverse City she married Harry L. Doyle who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Robert Louis Franke, James A. Franke and Jack B. Franke all of Traverse City and William L. Franke of Interlochen, three daughters Elizabeth Pavlovic of Interlochen, Rosemary B. Schneider of Copemish and Joanne Grennay of Spokane, Wash., a stepdaughter Ruth E. Kniss of Kalkaska, a brother William Barnes of Traverse City, 29 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was also preceeded in death by four sisters, Nora Robertson, Lena Brown, Ida Conklin and Flora Dobson and two brothers Benjamin Barnes Jr. and Harry Barnes. Funeral services will be held at 11 p.m. Monday at the Hibbard-Ruggles Funeral Home in Traverse City. The Rev. Ray Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be given to the First Christian Church.
