Robert was born, January 22, 1926, in Rutherford County to the late William Edley Jackson and Selma Rollins Jackson. Robert served in the United States Navy serving on a mine sweeper during WW II. After the war he met and married his wife of 66 years, Velma Horton Jackson. He spent the rest of his life until retirement as a union carpenter. After living in Florida and Pigeon Forge he moved back home to Rutherford County where he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Belinda
Collins; three sisters, Ocie Brooks, Lillie Mae Dolin and Margaret Horton; and one brother, Roy D. Jackson.
He is survived by one son, Ronald O. Jackson of Ellenboro, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 2, at 2:00 PM at Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend John Godfrey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
