Mrs. Ida Corn Mitchell, 77, a lifetime resident of Cherryvale, died at 9:40 pm Thursday, August 30, in Sunset Retreat Nursing home, where she had been a patient for a year.
She was born February 2, 1885, at Cherryvale, to Amos and Hattie (Maples) Littlejohn. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Rosie Deen, Cherryvale, Mrs. Bertha Curry, Los Angles, CA, Mrs. Lillie Weldon, Benicia, CA, Mrs. Lena Hills, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Mrs. Eva Hills, Independence, MO; four sons, Arthur Corn, Los Angeles, CA, LeRoy Corn, Cherryvale, George Corn and Francis Cater, Kansas City, MO; 38 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; a brother Nelvin Littlejohn, Decatur, Ark.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 pm Sunday, September 2, in the First Baptist church with the pastor Rev. Don Walker, officiating.
Mrs. Bill Watson and Mrs. Lee Wilson sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Hal Lassman.
Ladies in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Leo Hinman, Mrs. Frank Kash, Mrs. O.H. Stevens and Mrs. Fred Wagner.
Casketbearers included Lewis Dooley, Leo Hinman, Frank Kash, Earl Malcom, O.H. Stevens and Fred Wagner.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery by the Burns Funeral Home.
