MOTHER RUBY HOWARD DINGLE was born on July 17,1921 in Nash County to the late Willie and Bessie Eatmon Howard. Ruby was the second oldest of nine children. Ruby transitioned this life on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in Durham, North Carolina. Five siblings preceded Ruby into death: Vester Howard, Essie Mae Moses, Romas Howard, Willie Howard Jr.(WH)and Carrie Lene West.

Mother Dingle was an assiduous student who completed eighth grade in the Nash County Public Schools. Back then, few children were permitted to attend high school due to the distance and the lack of transportation.

On May 15, 1940, Ruby became the bride of the late Deacon James Albert Dingle. For a short time, they lived in Nash County, then they made their home in Wilson County near Sims. Around 1953, they moved into their new debt-free home near the Wilson City limits. During their senior years, they relocated to Durham where she lived until her death.

Ruby was a homemaker. The LORD blessed her with twelve children, including two sets of twins. Three children preceded Ruby into death: James Earl Dingle, Ruby Diane Vick and Willie Lee Dingle.

Ruby was an excellent wife and mother. However, her strength and dignity did not come from her amazing achievements. They were a result of her reverence to GOD. Her beauty and attractiveness were enhanced by her character. Ruby was an inspiration to others and challenged her children to excel.

Mother Dingle chose to follow Jesus at an early age and became a member of St. Mary Church of Christ, and Disciples of Christ in Bailey, North Carolina. Mother Dingle was a faithful member until she went to her Heavenly Home. As a born again Christian, Mother Dingle served in serveral capacities in the Church. Mother Dingle loved seving with the Missionary Department and being Mother on the Board. Mother Dingle reared her children in the Church and made sure they were taught GOD'S WORD. Mother Dingle often hosted Bible Studies in her home and taught children to Pray. Even after her children were grown, Mother Dingle admonished them to pay their tithes. Mother Dingle declared that "if you obey and trust GOD, HE will take care of you." Needles to say, Mother Dingle loves of life, were GOD, family and flowers. Yes, that woman loved herself some flowers! Blooming flowers, green leafy plants, potted flowers, flowers gardens, even silk and plastic flowers. Mother Dingle always shared fresh vegetables from her garden and fruit from the orchard when in season. During the winter, Mother Dingle shared frozen berries and veget- ables from her freezer as well as various homemade preserves.
