John W. Day Dies Tuesday
John W. Day, Centerville Route 1, died Tuesday evening, June 30, at 7:10 p.m., in the University Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 74 years, ten months, and 20 days.
He was born August 1, 1884, at Neelysville, Ill. [Centerville, Iowa], the son of Thomas and Sarah O'Hair Day. He was married to Josephine Irelan, who survives. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
In addition to the wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Archie Davis of Udell; two sons, Raymond Day of Eldridge, Ia., and Harold Day of Davenport; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a brother, James Day, of Council Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Elmer and Thomas Day.
Funeral services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, with Father Weiner officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Rosary services will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home.
