When Sylvan Samuel Taylor was born in 1838 in Virginia, his father, William T Taylor, was 22 and his mother, Mary "Polly" Stallard, was 19. He married Elizabeth Lark on December 30, 1858, in Scott, Virginia. They had 14 children in 22 years. He died in 1920 in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 82, and was buried there.
