Mrs. Williams Dies Sunday of Long Illness

Mrs. R.B. Williams, who had lived in Wellington 18 years died at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan.10, following a long illness. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Gordon Peters at 1110 Galveston Street.
Mrs. Williams was 88.
She was born Kittie A. Baker at Savoy on Sept. 8, 1876, but while she was a small child she moved with her family to Nocona, where she grew up. Her step-father, Rev. Smith, organized the First Christian Church in that town and was its pastor for many years.
On Nov 11, 1894 she was married to R.B. Williams at Nocona, and later the couple moved to Weatherford, Okla. which was to be their home many years. Mr. Williams preceded her in death in 1944.
Mrs. Williams had been a member of the Church of Christ for 78 years and she was active in the church here as long as her health permitted.
Funeral services were conducted at the Bowie Street Church of Christ Tuesday at 10 a.m., with Min. Grandol Forehand officiating. Her body was taken to Weatherford, Oklahoma, where short services were held at the Church of Christ at 3 p.m. and burial was in the Weatherford Cemetery, under the direction of Kelso Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Elmer Hiett, Buford Chandler, John Nash, Jess Wilson, Hunter Peters, Jack Nelson, Kenneth Ward and Rufus Hays.
Surviving Mrs. Williams are four daughters and a son: Mrs. Rachel Phillips and Mrs. Earl Peters of Wellington; Mrs. Janice Wood of Colorado City; Mrs. Nell Orr of Fort Worth and Paul A. Williams of Leveland. One sister also survives, Mrs. Cora Alexander of Bonham. [The Wellington Leader 14 January 1965]

Catherine "Kittie" was the daughter of David W Baker and Rachel (Whedbee),Admire, Baker, Smith.
Kittie was the youngest of three children to David and Rachel.She raised 8 children of 12 to maturity.
