Robert was a veteran of the Civil War, serving in Co D, 9th TN Cav. of the CSA.
Great Uncle Robert married Isabella White 27 Feb 1853 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee and they were the parents of three known children. He died 2 Dec 1898 in the Shoal Creek area of Lawrence County, probably at or near the Old Nelson home place.
