WERTZ, Sylvia Luther Farr Age 88 of Old Hickory. Passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009 following a lengthy illness... Mrs. Wertz was a native of Hopkinsville, KY but had lived in the Nashville area for the past 50 years. She was born August 4, 1920 to Frank and Edna Luther. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her two sons, Roy Farr, and her second husband, Robert Wertz; sister, Reba Luther; brother, Harold Truman Luther. Mrs. Wertz was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and taught school for 38 years in St. Louis, Missouri, Georgia, and Tennessee. During her tenure, she touched the lives of many young people devoting a special interest in each student. She retired from Fairview Elementary School in Williamson County. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a beloved Sunday School teacher who always demonstrated her strong faith. She was a dedicated Christian friend who truly loved her Lord and is now in His presence. Survivors include two sons, Tom Farr (Janice) of Madison and Ralph Farr (Dorothy) of Iuka, MS; two granddaughters, Kim Wood of Mt. Juliet and Karyn Scott of Spring Hill; one grandson...; seven great grandchildren; one brother, W.F. (Bill) Luther of Union City; one nephew and five nieces.
