Passed away peacefully at Masonic Care in Wallingford.
Married May 22, 1948.
Survived by his wife of 68 years, two daughters, one son, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, the seventh due in Nov 2016. Predeceased by his nine brothers and four sisters, his parents Osias and Albina Girard, and several other family members, including his son-in-law, Joseph Cataldo Jr.
Born in Lincoln, RI, his family moved to Foxon Ct where he grew up on the family farm on Thompson St. He served as a Technician in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II, stationed in the Philippines.
Ludger was a long time parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Hamden, where he and his wife lived for sixty-four years and raised their family. He retired thiry-three years ago from his long time job as a truck driver for St. Johnsbury. He was a active member of AMVETS Post Nine and worked as a volunteer, along with his wife, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in West Haven for many years.
He was happiest surrounded by his family, especially when called to help with any projects. He could fix almost anything and loved a challenge. It never took much to make him happy and most times he wore a smile. He was described by all that knew him as quiet, gentle and very kind man with a strong work ethic who was always ready to offer help when needed. He will be dearly missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church followed by internment with full military honors in All Saints Cemetery.
