Mr. Branch drowned Wednesday night, December 31, when the auto in which he was riding was swept into the flood-swollen waters of the Elk River. The accident occurred near the Farris Creek Bridge which spans the Elk River in the southeast part of Moore County. The accident was on the Franklin County side of the bridge.
He was a native of Lincoln County and a son of Ernest and Helen Clark Branch, who survive. He was employed by Josten's of Shelbyville.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Margie Armstrong of Tullahoma and Mrs. Barbara Ann Holt of Lynchburg; two brothers, Jimmy Branch and Tommy Branch, both of Moore County; his grandfather, Newt Branch of Moore County, and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Jenny Clark of Fayetteville.
Pallbearers were Harlan Davis, Dale Burham, Richard Hannah, Stanley Branch, Junior Clark, Larry Logan, Ray Eddy and Tim Durm.
Harrison Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
