On page 39 of "Descendants of Jacob Hoots" there are quotes from a letter written in December 1953 by Ethel (Hoots) Liston of Mattoon, Illinois, that include "...My father is a son of David Hoots and Sarah (Wright) Hoots, and David's father was Jacob Hoots...he had a flowering mill and a distillery ...Grandmother (Wright) Hoots lived with us so she told us all about the family. Her father was Josiah Wright, who was born in England..." (Notes by Rodney Nelson Hoots: Ethel (Hoots) Liston (1865-1955) was the daughter of Sanford Hoots (1831-1903). The Jacob Hoots mentioned is Jacob Hoots, Jr. (1766-1796))
