AGED HUMBOLDT MAN
Dies of Pneumonia After Seventy Years' Residence
Mattoon Dec. 30-Sanford Hoots, for many years a resident of Humboldt township, died late Monday afternoon at his home in Humboldt. The immediate cause of death was pneumonia which he contracted a few days before his death. He had, however, been an invalid for two years.

Pioneer of Humboldt, settling in 1836, four years after his birth which occurred May 13, 1831 in North Carolina. He was married two times and was a father of three: Albert Hoots of Humboldt, Mrs. Ethel Dougherty, also of that township and Rev. George F. Hoots of Maples, Il. His second wife, Miss Rose Poorman, survives.

The deceased followed the occupation of a farmer but retired about 12 years ago, having succeeded in amassing considerable wealth.
