Nettie Odessa Grigsby Miers was the daughter of Edward Olenda Grigsby and Eliza Norrill Brigham Grigsby. She was born a twin, but lost her twin brother soon after their birth. She grew up in Deview, Woodruff County, Arkansas. Her parents sent her to school in TN. She married William Burwill Miers, a railroad man in Ennis, Ellis County, Texas, in 1892. Their first son, Edward, was born in Ennis. He was sickly and she took him up to her father, a doctor, in DeView, Arkansas. Dr. Grigsby was not able to save Edward and he is buried between his two grandparents, (the Grigsbys) in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, south of McCrory, Woodruff County, Arkansas. William was transferred to Hearne, Robertson County, Texas. Two more children were born, Leah in 1896 and Wesley Scott, in 1900. William later became the Station Manager at Hearne and retired from there in about 1930. He never remarried.
