VINCENT LOCKMAN, of Jackson County and State of Indiana being of Sound mind to make this my last will and Testament in the following To wit I will that the bed which OLIVE BLACKATER has received to be her portion of my estate. I will that the bed given to POLLY BEEM to be her portion of my Estate. I will that the bed given to PATSEY HUNSUCKER be her portion of my estate. I will to ANNY LOCKMAN fifteen dollars as her portion of my estate I will that the horse given to JOHN LOCKMAN be his portion of my estate I will that the horse beast (superscript) given to THOMAS LOCKMAN be his portion of my estate. I will the the horse beast given to WILLIAM LOCKMAN be his portion of my estate. I will that the horse beast given to WASHINGTON I. LOCKMAN be his portion of my estate. I also will to EMILY REYNOLDS, one cow and calf and on bed. I will to MALINDA I. WEDDLE one cow and calf and one bed. I will to NANCY ELINOR LOCKMAN one cow and calf and one bed, and also her maintenance during her life time. I will that my wife have the content of the farm and keep the children that are single together and in the event of her marriaging then she is have nothing but what the law will allow her and I also will that after my body is decently buried the remainder of my property after given each their portion as mentioned to be equally divided share and share alike Among EMILY, MALINDA, JANE, NANCY, ELEANOR, ELIZABETH, CAROLINE AND MINERVA done in proper exercise of mind and in the presence of these two witnesses this twenty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three. Affidavit of Vincent Lockman's widow, Christine Hagan Lockman; The following is a summary of her sworn statement taken in 1860 for application of widows pension: "Said Vincent Lockman was under General Gates and served under Col. Malmaday. He served until honorably discharged. He was taken prisoner at ot near Hillsboro, N.C. and remained such until he was exchanged." "Said Vincent Lockman filed for a pension but owing to the informality of evidence and declaration it was withdrawn. The papers were placed in the hands of Jesse Burrell to prepare the claim, on account of the death of Vincent Lockman, and also the death of Jesse Burrell; the papers were lost and were never re-filed."
